For the professor of Literature from USP Helio de Seixas Guimarães, the book provides an innovative discussion on the work of the director, “one of the most imaginative artists of the Brazilian audiovisual segment”.
The Metafiction Book

According to the author, metafiction is the “youngest sister” of metalanguage, a self-referring aesthetic phenomenon, where fiction duplicates from the inside, either talking about or containing itself. In Chapter IV, entitled “Machado de La Mancha”, the author goes over the unrealistic adaptation of Dom Casmurro for TV in Capitu, directed by Luiz Fernando Carvalho.
